Ikeja Electric reduces electricity tariff for Band A customers to N206.80/kwh

The Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company (IKEDC) has reduced the electricity tariff for its Band A customers to N206.80 per kilowatt-hour, down from the N225/kWh approved by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

This announcement was made by the IKEDC spokesperson, Olufadeke Omo-Omorodion, in a notice to Channels Television on Monday.

The revised tariff for Band A customers will be effective from Monday, May 6, 2024. Previously charged at N225/Kwh, Band A customers will now pay N206.80/Kwh.

In the statement, the IKEDC assured customers of a guaranteed availability of 20-24 hours of supply daily along with the tariff reduction.

The decision to lower the tariff comes amidst public outcry over the increased electricity tariffs, which have been criticized by industry observers, Civil Society Organisations, and labor unions.

Tariffs for Bands B, C, D, and E remain unchanged.
