Ikeja Electric to give Ojodu LCDA Residents Prepaid Meter

Following the peaceful protest organized by Okeira, Aguda and Ogba communities against Ikeja Electric, there was a closed-door meeting between the Residents and Ikeja Electric top management at their business unit Oregun.

The meeting was scheduled to address the issue raised by the communities which includes; ‘We Say No to Estimated Billing, Give us Prepaid Meter’, ‘No Prepaid Meter, No Disconnection’, ‘Restore Ayanleye Street Transformer’, Give Prepaid Meter To Those That Have Been Forced To Pay’.

The meeting was attended by the leaders of the communities, the Business Manager Ikeja Unit, Mrs, Enobong Ezekiel, and other members of the Unit. The former Business Manager Ikeja Unit Mr Oloyede Adelakun now transferred to Abule Egba unit, was also present to address the matter as one who have been following with the community until January this year.

In response the caption ‘No to Estimated Billing, Give us Prepaid Meter’, Mr Adelakun made promise to reconciled the account, ordering the service Manager of Okeira Undertaking Mrs Yemisi Ijadonbola to carry out an inventory exercise to correct the bills anomaly, ensuring that people pay only for what they use.

Concerning disconnection, He gave a directive to Mrs Ijadonbola stating that disconnection exercise should be on hold for now pending when every house in the community are metered. He further emphasis that inventory exercise must begin immediately to aid metering exercise in the community from the first week of February, assuring the representative of the community that they will all be given meters by the end of February.

Mr Adelakun has assured the representative of the community that actions will be made to address all issues, by restoring transformer to the street affect and metering every house that has paid for the prepaid meter.

However, the Ojodu LGA/CDA chairman, Fadunsin represented by Comrade Kayode Ajakaye appreciated Mr Adelakun for good managerial sense of approach to the matter, promising to work together with the Ikeja Electric once there is cooperation.
